The rebound of post-pandemic traffic in its theme parks division has been gradual in recent quarters, while its reliance on streaming has witnessed a decrease in subscribers. In spring 2022 Sony will investigate entering the electric vehicle market, desiring a piece of the fast-growing green mobility market. Sony shares rose 4% in Tokyo morning trade.
Sony already has superior technology in sensors, as well as audio and entertainment systems, which are essential for autonomous driving.
The introduction of Sony Mobility follows the company's unveiling of a prototype sport utility vehicle (SUV) that is currently being tested on public roads.
The VISION-S 02 prototype is based on the same electric car chassis as the VISION-S 01 coupe, which began public road testing in Europe in December 2020.(More)
