Fauci: Masks on airplanes stay on

Masks on planes

Dr. Fauci said taking masks off while on an airplane is "not something we should even be considering." Airline stocks immediately react negatively, based on potential travel drops.

NOTE: This is not a political position for, or against, masks. This is a stock news report.

Federal law requires each person to wear a mask at all times while in the airport and when using public transit, during boarding and deplaning, and for the duration of the flight. Those who have received a COVID-19 vaccination are still required to wear a mask.

"A vaccine requirement for a person getting on the plane is just another level of getting people to have a mechanism that would spur them to get vaccinated; namely, you can't get on a plane unless you're vaccinated, which is just another one of the ways of getting requirements, whatever that might be," Fauci said.
