Airbus poaches Boeing again

Barbie and Ken wearing Qantas uniforms

Airbus scores contracts to sell KLM and Qantas numerous single-aisle jets, successfully poaching two of Boeing's most loyal customers.

Despite groundings and the pandemic, Airbus still makes substantial market share leads. A few months ago, Airbus took a 68% share of total net orders for the two narrow-body jets.

Photo: These two doll sized uniforms were made by Martin Grant, the designer of the 2015 Qantas uniform. Martin Grant's work for Qantas was inspired by the Qantas logo and combines French Navy, Qantas red, ruby red and fuchsia in the designs, which are designed to be flattering to all body types. His signature piece of the collection is the bold stripe dress, worn here by Barbie. These dolls also show the tailored trench with it's pop of red on the inside collar. This coat is worn by both female and male stewards and shows the simple structured tailoring that has lead to Grant's international success.
The Museum holds a collection of Ken and Barbie dolls that represent Qantas uniform design from 1948, now through to 2015 along with these two uniform sets created by the designer Martin Grant. As a collection they show both an evolution of fashion and design influences on an iconic Australian company.
